Team Captain Responsibilities
for Women’s Walk
1. Organize a team of women/men who are willing to
raise money for UNK Women’s Athletics. The MINIMUM
number of team members is three, with a goal of
$100.00 per team. Your team can be made up of
businesses, women in politics, education, sports,
etc. The more diverse your team is, the more
contacts can be made for sponsorship.
2. Get donors for yourself. Set a good example for
your teammates.
3. Attend a meeting (the only one) for all team
captains and co-captains on Tuesday June 24, 2008
from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at
Cope Stadium on University Drive. The purpose of the
meeting will be to discuss the event and distribute
forms needed for your team. If you cannot attend,
please assign a representative to attend on your
behalf. Try to have a beginning roster to turn in
with team members already listed.
4. Get your original team roster (names, addresses,
phone numbers and emails) to the UNK Loper Women’s
Walk Office by June 15th, 2008. Your team roster can
be revised, but the major portion is needed by this
date.
5. Stay in contact with your team members to see
that they are getting sponsors. Stress for team
members to try to collect donations in advance. Team
members should turn in these donations to you or the
UNK Loper Women’s Walk Office, as quick as possible.
Your steering committee representative will be in
contact with you, but if you have any questions, do
not hesitate to contact her or the Loper Women’s
Walk Office.
6. The Loper Women’s Walk Office will send you and
your team-members newsletters/postcards as reminders
and to explain procedures. Please go to

7. Remind team members of the September 4th, 2008
deadline for money to be turned in to be eligible
for drawings. Walkers are eligible for special
prizes by raising $300.00, $200.00 or $100.00.
8. Drop-off/Deadline Day- September 4th, 2008- for
walkers to be eligible for Special Prizes. Extended
hours will be offered for you to bring in your
updated roster and any money for your team. The
Drop-off/Deadline site will be the UNK Athletic
Office between 7:00am- 6:00pm.
9. Be at the Cushing Fieldhouse on September 13th,
2008 by 9:00 am to greet your team members. Many
door prizes will be given. Immediately after the
walk enjoy a free continental breakfast with your
team members.
10. Follow-up with team members to turn in all
pledges to you or the UNK Loper Women’s Walk Office.
